Jordan Peterson – Tell the truth

Jordan Peterson - Confidence and truth

One way of conceptualizing yourself is that you are one spec of dust among 7 billion. Then you might think, What difference does it makes what I say or do? The prize you pay for that is a bit of nihilism.

The other way of looking at it, the accurate way is that you are in a network. You know a thousand people, for example, they know 1,000 people. That means you are one person away from a million people, and two persons away from a billion people, and you are the centre of that network.

Don’t underestimate the power of your speech.

Your capacity for speech is divine, is the thing that generates order from chaos.

Don’t underestimate the power of truth, there is nothing more powerful.

Let go of the outcome, you have to think. State what you think as clearly as you can, and live with the consequences. You are going to pay a price for everything you do and everything you don’t do. If you are going to standup for something, stand up for your truth.

Tell the truth and see what happens.

The truth is what redeems the world from hell, and that’s the truth. And we’ve seen plenty of hell from the last 100 years. Tell the truth, or at least don’t lie.
